Currently, the number of males recorded cases of breast cancer is only 0.7% of all breast cancer cases in India, and according to Dr. TS Rao of Indo-American Oncologic Hospital and Research Institute, "The ratio of men to women is 100:1 where that is. for every 100 female breast cancer cases, the number of men suffering is just 1. This number can still be great to cause panic, but it is certainly important. "
Hospital has been diagnosed and treated in atleast 10 cases in the past two years, and adds, "The number increased from what it was several years ago. "Dr. Reddy's side said that only 4-5 cases have been treated to Apollo in the past one year, but warned against complacency and instead stressed the need for greater awareness to ensure the same number does not increase further .
"Alcohol consumption is also a potential cause for male breast cancer. But since not much research has been conducted on the same, is difficult to identify factors other than hormonal changes, "said Dr. Reddy.
Currently, the absence of a cancer registry in the state is a major drawback for research centers to study the disease.
